Tax day...ugh. When we will get smart and go to a flatter tax. 15 and 25 percent rates. This would not be a tax cut as you can see the likes of President Obama paying on 20% in taxes and Mitt Romney paying 17%. They both would effectively have higher tax rates and we would all benefit from a more efficient tax system.

'Fiscal responsibility' is not a partisan issue. The GOP has arrogated it to its ongoing 'platform' for ages. Bad choices in spending are always there. The problem is the way Congress works -- one hand does wash the other. Good things get passed that way. Lousy things do in exchange. To put a limit on spending is nonsensical, since that just means more squalid fighting over a diminished amount of cash (or 'future cash'). That means uglier stuff than we've seen over the past 20 or 30 years. I am a Democrat -- have been for decades. Yet, what we need are people committed to working across ideology.

I have been seriously hurt by the economic downturn. I still believe that the economy is turning around and have hope that it will get better.

Whether or not we agree with the democrats or the republicans on the issue, I think we can all agree that a legitimate decision must be made and backed by our country's leadership. Continuous argument with no action leaves the American economy in a standstill, removing confidence and bolstering unrest.

I agree. I think in addition to the many economic principles required to avoid a double dip recession, calm and succinct action of any kind is a step in the right direction.
